Training

At Bulk Transportation, we want all of our drivers and employees to have the tools and information they need to succeed. Our orientation and training helps insure this success.

Bulk Transportation drivers are among the most knowledgeable, well prepared, and experienced drivers in the truck carrier industry. Developing the skills of our people is one of the most important things we do. Company drivers are paid an hourly rate while participating in classroom training and while completing field training with a Driver Field Trainer.

Utilizing our web videoconferencing facilities, our Initial Orientation & Safety Training is constantly updated and delivered to bring our employees the most up-to-date information available, making Bulk Transportation drivers among the most-prepared and most-educated in the industry.

Using the latest technology, every new employee and Owner Operator attends orientation sessions delivered via our two-way web videoconferencing from our corporate training center in Walnut, California to learn about our company history, mission, values, procedures and requirements and get an overview of how the Bulk team functions day-to-day.

This classroom training includes:

  • Safety and defensive driving
  • Bulk and hazardous material handling and transportation
  • Hazardous materials training (HM 126)
  • Logging, trip planning, time management (PeopleNet)
  • Operational (SOP's) and proper records completion
  • MSHA, OSHA, DOT regulation training
  • Emergency response
  • Customer specific training

Bulk Transportation's Driver Field Training program is another great benefit to our new drivers. Not only do our Driver Field Trainers ride along with our new recruits, they also mentor them throughout their training period, giving training tips, customer information, and product requirements to help them transport and handle our products safely and on time.
